Frequently asked questions

What is a good ROAS on Etsy Ads?

Most shops need at least 3–5× ROAS to be genuinely profitable once Etsy's own ~12% cut and product costs are subtracted. A 2× ROAS usually means you are paying to break even.

What is break-even ROAS?

Break-even ROAS = 1 ÷ your profit margin before ads. With a 25% margin you need a 4× ROAS just to cover the ad spend; anything above that is real profit.

Is Etsy Ads worth it?

Etsy Ads work best on listings that already convert well organically and carry a 35%+ margin. Advertising a low-margin or low-converting listing simply speeds up the loss — check the numbers here before increasing the budget.

Can I turn off Offsite Ads?

Shops with under $10,000 in the last 12 months can opt out in Shop Manager → Marketing → Offsite Ads. Above $10,000 participation is mandatory, but the fee drops from 15% to 12% and is capped at $100 per order.

What is ACOS on Etsy?

ACOS (advertising cost of sale) = ad spend ÷ revenue from ads, expressed as a percentage. It is the inverse of ROAS — a 4× ROAS is a 25% ACOS.
